Gratitude Story from Serbia

View this post on Instagram

If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? My thank-you note would go to my older brother, Marko. We were very close when we lived together. My best memory about him is our vacation trip with our family at some sort of camp we didn't like very much. We were two kids with a lot of older people at a camp, and there wasn't much to do for fun. We spent time walking around and talking a lot about everything, but there was one conversation I clearly remember: It was about life in general, and his words were the following: "If we leave our town and split up on different sides, do not forget to follow your ideas and remember, no ice in the world can kill a true idea." Even today, I hear an echo of this sentiment, and it has supported me all these years.
