Gratitude Story from Bulgaria View this post on Instagram If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? "I would send a thank you note to one man who once picked me up when I was hitchhiking. His name is Ivan. I saw him only once, but it was a memorable experience and I really want to thank him. My story with him began in the summer. I was travelling to the seaside, to one place, called Irakli. This man picked me up from Plovdiv and left me literally on the beach. Through the whole time we spoke a lot and it was really pleasant, as with most people that I have had a hitchhiking experience with. For me, sending him a thank you note is like sending a note to everyone in the whole world, who are helping people during their travels and who are taking care of others on the road. So,… we were both travelling in the car and he was supposed to leave me on one pathway near the road and then continue his journey. From there to the beach is like an hour walking. He decided to bring me to the beach, to the end of my destination. He told something like this: “We travelled together now for so many kilometers, I won’t leave you just at the end!”. When we arrived at the beach, he gave me a present. He gave me 2 liters of this traditional alcoholic Bulgarian drink, called rakia. He told me that it was a present in order for me to have a really good time at the seaside, and so I did. Meeting this person was a really nice moment for me, because during our trip he made me feel like I was a good person and I needed to feel that at that moment. He really helped me realize a lot and I will always be grateful for that and, of course, for the nice bottle of rakia." Gratitude Story from Venezuela View this post on Instagram If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? "I am Nora Diaz de Pacheco. I am 67 years old and have always felt incredibly grateful towards my mother, Elena Diaz de Apitz. She was a modern woman and a warrior with a divine spirit of life. She was capable of doing whatever she wanted. There was practically nothing she couldn’t do and she did it all with a beautiful and creative energy. She learned to knit and sew, and took up embroidering and painting. She learned plumbing, gardening and how to glue ceramics. She also loved animals, until the point that her house looked like a zoo. My mother had a kennel of 44 dogs, more than 100 birds, parrots, macaws, monkeys, snakes, spiders, squirrels, pigeons, and even raised a donkey with a bottle. Most importantly, she did all these things practically alone. At home we called her “Doña Bárbara” (a Venezuelan novel character), because she had a bit of a rough childhood. This caused her to have a strong character with a fierce determination, but she also had a brilliant heart and was full of love to give to anyone who approached the family. My mother always made room at the dinner table for anyone who arrived at the house and treated them with care and love even though they were strangers. I can spend days and days talking about memories I have of my mother, but a very special memory that stands out among the rest were the trips we took to the hot springs “Las Trincheras in Valencia, Venezuela. We had the opportunity to go many times and she always acted in the same way: she looked like a young girl who didn't want to leave the pools of hot water when she relieved her aches with the hot water jets.” (San antonio de los altos, Venezuela) A post shared by DigiThanks (@digithanks) on Jun 25, 2019 at 8:04am PDT July 1, 2019 0

Gratitude Story from Colombia View this post on Instagram If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? "It’s a hard decision to send a thank you note to only one person, as I have a lot of people to be thankful for. I will choose a friend who I really appreciate, Maria Claudia Perry.⠀ ⠀ We have shared a lot of experiences, but the ones I remember the most were when we would go to parties or to a good disco to dance, as we both really enjoy dancing and had a good time. Those memories occurred around 1990-2000. We were both working full-time and sometimes I had to travel for weeks due to work. Due to our other commitments, we had to plan our time accordingly to make sure we had the chance to see one another. ⠀ ⠀ Something I remember with joy was the music we listened to. I’m a Classical Rock/Pop music fan and a Salsa fan, which were all popular at the time. In comparison, today the trendy music is mostly Reggaeton, which I don’t like at all. There is also an electronic music that I like, but it’s not the same as it was twenty years ago. Maria Claudia shared my taste in music, so we never struggled with selecting a place to go and have fun. It was easy for us to laugh and we always have an enjoyable time together." Gratitude Story From Paris View this post on Instagram If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? "I think it will be the short gratitude story, but this story changed my life. It was one day of my life when I arrived in Paris for the first time. All the day, I had a lot of emotions because before, this city was just in my dreams. For me, it was my biggest dream and it couldn't be true. I used to staring at the big picture of the Eiffel Tower on my bedroom wall. Every time I saw that picture, I knew that it was something I needed to see, so I made it happen. In that evening, when I met with my friends in the bar, I met a very smart, handsome and loving gentleman. He is going to be my futures husband, our wedding is next month. Maybe, you will ask, how I know I made a right marriage choice. My answer is simple, during the suicide bombings attack on Paris, on November 13, 2015 a lot of people died, that tragedy helped us realize we could not live without each other and it was something that could have happened to anyone when it’s least expected. It was the big first step in our lives when we are started to be something more for each other. This story, I think, can be the story of our future family, for our children." Gratitude story from New York City, USA View this post on Instagram If you wanted to send a thank-you note to someone in your life, who would it be, and what is one of your best memories of that person? "My father is an incredible man and full of unconditional love. I think the thing that he did for me, more so than anything, is just the unconditional love to be exactly who I want to be. He has always loved and never put conditions on what I do. He encouraged me to move to New York 30 years ago and become an artist. Whatever it is that I have decided to do with my life, he just wants to make sure I’m happy. I think everyone is born an artist. He nurtured whatever it is that I wanted to do. When I was a child, I asked him if I could paint my walls red and all of the furniture black. I remember that was one thing I did. And then I painted the walls purple and all of my furniture pink. He allowed me to wear whatever I wanted and he encouraged me to do what I wanted to."
